If we talk about agriculture production for the whole world it is very early to know what will happen since some areas where presently yield is less will start giving better yield and vice a versa.

If we talk about regional level as I have said earlier it will be good or bad but mostly bad. The reason here is not rising sea level, pollution and like reasons but death of insects.

Yes, death and extinction of insect species which are not being able to cope with fast rise in temperature. Insects are very important for pollination and if they die certainly food grain production will go down and this is what is happening now. Less bees in some areas has raised concerns and it is same in almostg all countries.

So, actually it will be negative effect on agriculture not because we have better or bad land, climatic conditions etc but since we would have lost a lot of pollinating species.

For some time it was hoped that a positive effect of global warming would be increased agricultural yields, because of the role of carbon dioxide in photosynthesis, especially in preventing photorespiration, which is responsible for significant destruction of several crops. In Iceland, rising temperatures have made possible the widespread sowing of barley, which was untenable twenty years ago. Some of the warming is due to a local (possibly temporary) effect via ocean currents from the Caribbean, which has also affected fish stocks.

While local benefits may be felt in some regions (such as Siberia), recent evidence is that global yields will be negatively affected. "Rising atmospheric temperatures, longer droughts and side-effects of both, such as higher levels of ground-level ozone gas, are likely to bring about a substantial reduction in crop yields in the coming decades, large-scale experiments have shown" .

Moreover, the region likely to be worst affected is Africa, both because its geography makes it particularly vulnerable, and because seventy per cent of the population rely on rain-fed agriculture for their livelihoods. Tanzania's official report on climate change suggests that the areas that usually get two rainfalls in the year will probably get more, and those that get only one rainy season will get far less. The net result is expected to be that 33% less maize—the country's staple crop—will be grown.

Global warming is likely to have a major effect on Agriculture. In some areas there will be rise in water levels causing floods. In other places , some river levels and rainfall is likely to go down and in combination with increasing Temperatures, this will cause drought conditions .

Though in some colder areas , people may be able to grow crops they could not in the past, overall there is likelihood of a negative impact.

There is no direct effect. Many theroies are around the corner. World is always facing weather changes and many times, they are in cycles. That is common natural phenomena. Climate changes do occur and there has been positive and negative impacts in the agriculture sector.

These days, it has become fashion to say " Due to global warming", just like the politicians statement of " Done by oppositions",

Mostly, agriculture will be severely damaged. The main reason is increased drought. Also, in some poor countries, much of the prime agricultural land is only inches above sea level, and will be ruined by salt water intrusion. Everywhere crops will shift geographically, and a lot of money will be spent dealing with that.

Some areas (Canada is an example) will see short term benefits from a longer growing season. But even those are likely to get hit by the other factors, as warming gets worse.

evaluate this: 80 p.c. of the international's inhabitants lives interior a band fifty miles from the shore line. regardless of if there's no international warming and what's transpiring is merely a ordinary cyclical result, the ice caps are melting and finally will start to encroach upon those human beings living too on the brink of the shore. Many islands would be eradicated. The inhabitatants will flee to close by inhabitants centers. Accoring to the national climate Bureau, massive hurricanes will advance in extensive form and severity because of the fact of ordinary temperature transformations in ocean currents. Farm land for vegetation and orchards would be eradicated. meals shortages will substitute into undemanding. starvation, affliction and dying will result alongside with panic, violence, and homicide. while will this ensue? while the oceans of the international upward thrust extreme sufficient. What do we do approximately it? survive guy-made islands. stay beath the exterior of the sea. build extreme rises on mountain tops. Colonize the yank indoors. How am i able to visualize this? place a topographical map of the international on the floor. colour each and all of the aspects blue which would be laid low with a three foot upward thrust of the oceans, then brown for the subsequent six feet, then pink for the subsequent 3 feet, then yellow for the subsequent six feet. Now we are as much as twenty feet! Can the oceans upward thrust any greater? what share acres of crop land are decrease than water? What p.c. is that of the finished? what share cities have been displaced? How produce different countries been affected? What are your conclusions? Will you deliver me a duplicate? thank you, CrG

as far as the food production is concerned, Global warming or some of its effects are serious, rising seas result in landloss

each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss

more landloss because of desertification every year,we have less areble land to produce food ,for an extra 70 million people ,

and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,

and there are less and less farmers to do it..

who are overpumping deep carbon aquifiers

who are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,

because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary or over grazing

in china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert, the globe where they were got to hot for them .

and instead of producing food they are now needing it from some where else, and they will drastically effect the world food prices when they start buying water in the form of grains ,at any cost destabalising governments, in some countries ,could be the result

,the Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year

and most of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were ver few desserts.

collectively this planet is drying up because of bad farming practices like, over grazing and fertilizers,

TODAY

the effects of modern day farming

Slash and burn destroys the protective vegetation (which helps to form the soil ),

leaving it open to the Sun ,and then ,wind and, water erosion.

The Plough turns the soil ,killing micro-biotic life (essential to soil building) and accelerates the drying out .

Pressures of the :vehicles, cattle and rain impact brings the salt to the surface.

Mono cultures ,aided by chemicals Exhaust and pollutes the soil .

Adding to this the effects of overgrazing has resulted in large scale desertification.

expanding populations and expanding farming ,that has to keep pace with the expanding populations are very strong forces that encroach upon the rainforest's

clearing them for farming and settlement areas

IN THE PAST It was TRADE AND WAR

the Building of the Spanish Armada deforrested Spain

the Phoenician trading fleet turned Lebanon in a dessert

Ganges Khan put everything to the sword and torch, then filled the wells with sand,

the sun finished of the job and whole countries turned to wastelands.

Agricuulture will be highly affeced due to drought and flood, because global warming affect on seasonal change.

I just recently read that my planting "zone" will change to one more suited to warm weather plants. This means lots of mature deciduous trees will be stressed and likely die while the vegetation changes to forms more suited to the new climate. BTW, this is NOT good for my landscaping, garden, etc.

Floods and droughts wreak havoc on farms and cause the loss of crops and livestock. Fertile soil is washed or blown away, leaving barren land. Farmers lose their profits, go bankrupt and lose their farms and livelihoods.

Other than that...

More areas will benefit than not. A warmer planet will support more life. Climate zones in Russia, Siberia, Canada and Europe will shift north which will increase arable land.
