Question:
How can man made global warming on Earth spread to Mars?
2010-03-22 18:18:27 UTC
The Sun is the primary driving force of climate. The Sun provides Earth with a staggering amount of energy. It drives weather, ocean currents and evaporation and provides the energy for life on Earth. The Sun also prevents the oceans freezing and boiling.

Global warming occurs on other planets and the moons in our Solar System. It cannot be related to human emissions of CO2 on Earth. Planets orbiting stars outside our Solar System also show global warming resulting from orbital variations and changes in energy emitted from the parent star.

So how is global warming on Mars related to Global Warming on Earth?

The same force causing global warming on mars is causing global warming on earth. The Sun.

Oh dear how many times are denier going to post this rhetorical nonsense.

The basis of this is that the Sun is causing Mars to warm, hence it is the same on Earth, ignoring that this squarely contradicts another denier theory that we are cooling due to low sunspot activity (I guess with so many theories it is hard to keep track of them all) or that the records of actual Solar activity show no sign of increased activity since the start of the satellite record over 30 years ago and the observed decline of the Southern Martian Pole has only been observed in the last in the last decade.

In the past deniers have quite often posted this

as the evidence of this theory, while this may have earned Habibullo Abdussamatov a number of trips to denier climate conferences, most deniers seem to fail to notice that this story has a second page.

were it is shown for the nonsense it is.

Our esteemed lead answerer (hee hee) has referenced this in the past when pretending to be "one of the most knowledgeable people" and stating that it's atmospheric pressure is the same as the top of Everest, so that would mean a human could survive in the open on Mars with just warm cloths and a tank of Oxygen, I'd like to see Jello try that, personally I'd prefer a spacesuit.

He also said it's atmosphere is almost entirely Co2 this at least is true, as long as you conveniently forget that it's atmospheric pressure is 1% of Earth there is virtually no water vapor (which is the main greenhouse gas on Earth) and Mars is much further from the Sun.

The fact is almost all the planets in the solar system have their own atmospheres and varying orbits this alone easily accounts for the changes seen on Pluto, we have only known Pluto even existed for 90 years out of a 248 year orbit so have no idea how it's climate changes through its orbit.

Richie, can you tell me how much the planetary temperature has risen on Mars? I'd love to see the source of your misinformation.

Hmm actually very few of the celestial bodies in our solar system are warming. Mars happens to be one of them, but scientists believe that it has nothing to do with CO2, but with the irregular orbit of Mars. Of the 90+ celestial bodies in our solar system about a hand full are warming, so this actually goes along with the FACT that the sun is in a solar minimum as we speak. Most are actually cooling... yet the earth is warming... I wonder why?

Do you have any comprehension of the greenhouse effect? Do you realize that without it we would cease to exists? Your argument is just flawed and shows a basic lack of understanding.

Hello Clare Brien. "Do you respect everyone's opinion when it comes to global warming?". Yes. — But that doesn't mean I have to agree with the idea behind. In order to CONVINCE an ignorant, we first have to accept the ignorant's OPINION. So, we (obviously) have (are forced to) respect the ignorant opinion too, wether we like it or not, at least to some duration of time. — The rest of it is a question of argumentation. — So it's easy: »I respect your opinion on global warming, whatever, but I don't agree with unrelated claims». "Do you think people should keep quiet about a scientific subject when they're ignorant of the science? What's your take?" — No, Clare, absolutely NO. — An opportunity to convince an ignorant is always given the moment the ignorant expresses an opinion: it is the only divine moment of inspiration where knowledge (and truth) can be established. Please, take care of those moments as diamonds, gold and the most precious of all things. With kind greetings, bj

We were originally part of a much smaller Sagittarius Dwarf galaxy. This galaxy is now in a collision with the higher energy Milky Way. This extra energy is what's causing all the planets in our solar system to warm up.

I'm surprised that in one thread you actually post an intelligent rebuttle to global warming then in your next one you come back with this. You are using a fallacious argument. Greenhouse gas concentration is not the only reason why temperatures rise and fall. The different amounts of energy hitting the planet at different times are one of those things that can affect global temperatures. However people who make this claim do not back it up with data.
