Problem with drugs and drug addicts: I have a proposal but where can I send this?

i have a proposal to solve the problem with drugs and drug addicts... basically, we must know eher the drugs come from and what I know it's from certain species of plants!
Solution: destroy those plants!! When the source of origin is destroyed, then we can destroy drugs!! Like marijuana and heroin.
Then replace with plants that provide benefit to mankind eg: wheat, corn, vegetables, fruits - after all, with the increasing price of food - isn't this a wonderful solution (besides curbing the climate change and global warming?)

First of all, this has got NOTHING to do with global warming.



You crossposted your one question (sorry proposal to solve the drugproblem) on a zillion different (unrelated) yahoo answer boards such as "politics", "other-health", "other - diseases" and in "international organisations" and so on ... what is wrong with you?



And to answer your question: people WANT to use drugs so they WILL use drugs, as they always did as long as mankind existed. You cannot "solve" the 'drugproblem'!!



Lets solve crime, lets solve traffic accidents! lets solve bad wheater! How naive can you be?



for your information: drugs come from more than just plants. ever heard of laboraties? you can make amfetamines in your kitchen, how are you going to stop people from doing that??



And how do you define 'drugs'??? Will coffee and chocolate be named drugs or not? they do have an effect and are addictive. Where do you draw the line?



Will you include painkillers and other prescription drugs? people will take those to replace the drugs you would 'destroy' as they are looking for mind altering substances anyway...

"mankind" has a way of messing up even the good things......we would take those wheat and fruit fields you describe and turn them into an intoxicating drink....or something. Anyway, the existence of the substance is not the problem. The fact that we, as a collective society, make living with ourselves so stressful that we look for ways out is more on the right path. Got a cure that would make us all better people?

For plant based drugs, we have seeds stored away in sufficient quantities and different places that exterminating the plants is not a likely solution.



Even with great determination, plant destroyers would find themselves trying to pick out plants from the midst of other crops, from fence lines, from internal places.



It might be more useful to remove criminal treatment of addicts let them grow their own so that they do not finance a great illicit growing trade, and give medical help to get off the drug, with no threat of prison for coming forward for help.

for the cocaine and marijuana

set up a US sponsored program to get the farmers in central and south America to grow jatropha oil seed for biofuel

if you pay the farmer for growing this instead of drug crops.

and pay them what they would be payed for the drug crops(the farmer get very little for growing drug crops the real money is made by the drug cartels.)

this would cut the supply to the drug cartels.

give the farmer a safe crop to grow.

plus give the US a biofuel source.

There's always a demand for it. When there's demand, someone somewhere is willing to grow it for the mass profits.
