"Making EXISTING technologies more efficient." Waste is the main problem. We don't need to invent new stuff. Just stop being so wasteful. As an example, buildings can simply be insulated better to reduce energy loss. That is also the most cost effective thing to do. What's the point of having wind and solar power if it just goes out the window?

Certainly if you knew what part of the economy was to grow, and have the greatest potential, you would want to capitalize it. Look to innovation and the driving forces involved. Certainly the issues surrounding energy are complex and many of them need to be solved. This develops innovative thinking yielding new technology that has market driven appeal and success. Whoever solves the energy issue, its costs, its hidden costs, and liabilities, is going to be rich. We are on the verge of epic technological advancements. These innovations will take hold quicker thru society than the computer did. The next generation will look back on ours as the last of the fire era and know that the term energy shortage was a term for unenlightened minds. All the energy that is, was, or ever will be exists now; changing form.

Personally, I disagree with the topic proposition. Global Warming is just a topic that is a benefactor for the common media. Another word in simpler terms would be "Gradual Varying Climate." In all reality, yes the Earth is warming, slightly. This slow warming is not something that you should be inclined to worry about. Any statistical data that you ponder upon will inform you that the Earth will gradually cool back down. This has happened throughout the years. Look at a yearly temperature chart that dates back at least two centuries. I hope you found my input informative and helpful.

If you are talking about climate change, I do not agree. There is simply no evidence that mankind can have an impact on the climate.

At least that is what 31,000 scientists think is true..

well as a rule we should always strive to be efficient and to maximize efficiencies in new products and existing ones.

The problem we need to solve is why we are not efficient. Then we can cure the ill and stop focusing on the symptoms.

What is menat by "necessary changes"? This question can not be answered without knowing what is meant by that.

I disagree with this. Technology doesn't exist. It's just a fabrication by atheist witch doctors. Riddle me this. If they actually went to space, then why would they be floating in space? Space isn't made up by water, which humans float in. SCIENTISTS THEMSELVES ADMIT THAT. So why the hell would the astronauts float? CHECK MATE.

How can i support refining something that DOESN"T EXIST

Yes, because even if consumer habits don't change much, products can have less waste and toxins as by-products
