We know what we should do, but this situation is a falling safe...there IS no good outcome. Given that the world population keeps rising, and fossil fuels, the property of very large and politically powerful corporations whose wealth and influence now control or are close to controlling most of the countries in the world we'll never see much reduction in the overall burn rate. At this point the CO2 situation is moving ever closer to 400ppm. In 1950 it was 350ppm. In 1800 it was 286ppm. At 450ppm we reach a major tipping point called a runaway greenhouse effect. At the current rate of increase that's about 2030 to 2050. Yeah..it's that bad.



This situation is called a high equilibrium trap. You can't stop what you're doing because so many things depend on what you're doing even if what you're doing is going to kill off the entire system. We could never slow down, much less stop the burning of fossil fuels...if we did millions would starve, cities would crumble, civilization would cease and the deniers would have nothing to talk about.



Conclusion: What many people now alive will live to see is rapidly rising temperatures soon after X percent of the world's ice fields have melted. That's where all of the trapped solar heat currently goes and what's kept the atmospheric heat level from going through the roof! Ice is a good thing...it prevents temporally the end of world wide industrial civilization based on agriculture...even people with cell phones need to eat.



Climate change is real and it's rapid and it's caused by pouring tons of CO2 and methane into our paper thin atmosphere. However, there's a finite mass of ice....that's why your beer warms up in the ice chest after the all the ice has melted.

Conserve electricity. In the US people are doing just that. Appliances use less. We use economy light bulbs. We go on daylight saving time earlier. Funny CO2 is still rising.

Reuse. We are. Funny CO2 has still gone up.

Recycle. That many times causes a bigger CO2 footprint than using raw material.

We have enacted laws to curb all this CO2 pollution with no results.

We have taxed CO2 with no results.



Yet the world leaders are asking for more sacrifices as they jet down to South Africa to hold conferences on AGW.



Us lowlifes have done all these things and yet the world leaders are asking for more, They want us in the US to forsake our own Constitution and comply to their scheme for world control. And just think they haven't given us one ounce of credible proof.

First world leaders should construct massive projects to turn our electricity usage into 100% renewable to reality. In deserts they should build solar power plants all over the place and Transfer it all over the world. On windy plains they should build massive wind farms. They should use lots of geothermal power. Increase taxes on big oil to keep them from growing bigger and start giving benefits of 10 million dollars to people who will build sole Solar Powered Cars. Meanwhile products should become bio-degradable and recherche in this field should be ramped up and subsidized by world governments. The governments should also should install micro sprinklers to reduce water usage. Mass Transportation should also be subsidized and solar powered railroads, monorails and buses should be built. People who start running these should be granted loans. To also help pay for this governments should charge a penny on every dollar invested in stock, the big oil tax and pollution taxes on non-renewable sources of energy. Not only that but there should be Green roofs on skyscrapers in city's. This will reduce pollution and lower energy cost. The reasons for doing this is if we dint sea levels will irreversibly rise swamping city's and agricultural lands, fertile lands Will turn into desert and many people in Asia and in North America will face serious water shortages. Over time it will only get worse.

Political leaders are led by votes and they care for little else. I doubt that progressive measures can actually be expected.

Net metering must be available to allow people to benefit from alternative energy sources such as solar and wind turbines. Smart meters can charge higher rates during peak usage periods and lower rates during low usage periods and the shannagins of privatized power should be done away with, it's by definition a utility and a monopoly, there's no point in introducing middle men just to claim that there's competition.



Tree planting has to be more sustainable than the monoculture pollen producing male trees which occurs now. Fruit bearing female trees may be more troublesome for city workers to tend the grounds but it needs to be a mixed environment both in plant species and the sex of the trees.



I would like to see the return of community recycling bins instead of the current subscription driven curbside recycling which profits from the subscription itself. The current curbside recycling only fools people into thinking they are recycling as the products are disposed of in landfills if the market price for the recyclables is too low and they often are due to the popularity of curbside recycling. Fundamentally, recycling doesn't start with the collection of recyclables but with the use of recyclables so the government can require a progressive increase of recycled content required in consumer products with higher taxes if there is less recycled content.
