Question:
Will global warming ever end?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
2009-01-23 18:16:30 UTC
If we do nothing to try and stop it, will it just get hotter and hotter until we die from the heat or something? Or will it one day end and go back to the normal temperature.
Where I live, the temperature went over 50 degrees Celsius the other day! That is really really hot!!

when studies were done trying to prove global warming, they found that around 200 years ago, water levels and temperature changes went out of whack and never really seemed to go back to normal, in fact they have gotten worse. well if you look back at what happened about 200 years ago, you come across the industrial revolution when all machinery and emission was first introduced. if we do not change our way of life, that planet won't do it for us. sad thing is even though new Hybrid cars have cut back pollutants almost about 80%, the production of a Hybrid car is an amount of pollutants more than manufacturing a hummer and driving that hummer about 100,000. hard truth about emission "cut backs"

What do you define as a normal temperature?

The climate has been both much hotter and much colder than it is now.

The figures for the 20th century show an increase of 0.7C. This mild degree of warming is well within expected fluctuations.

So far this century the temperatures have been stable or cooling.

The Uk department of education has been taken to the high court by a father claiming that Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" is unfit for schools because it is politically biased and contains serious scientific inaccuracies and sentimental mush.

The presiding Justice Burton will make a final ruling within a week but has already stated that the film does promote partisan political views. This is resulting in the government education system having to amend their Guidence Notes to make clear that:

1.) The film is a political work and promotes only one side of the argument.

2.) If teachers present the film without making this plain they may be in breach of section 406 of the Education Act 1966 and guilty of political indoctrination.

3.) Eleven inaccuracies have to be specifically drawn to the attention of school children.

The eleven inaccuracies are:

1. The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government’s expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.

2. The film suggests evidence from ice cores covering the last 650,000 years proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases. The court found that the film was misleading due to the fact that the actual evidence from those ice cores demonstrate that the CO2 rises actually followed temperature increases by 800 to 2000 years and so could not have been causative.

3. The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that it was "not possible" to attribute one-off events to global warming.

4. The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that this was not the case.

5. The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr. Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm.

6. The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant's evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.

7. The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.

8. The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia.

9. The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting, the evidence was that it is in fact increasing.

10. The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration.

11. The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government is unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.

look, there is nothing that we as a world can do to stop global warming. don't get me wrong i don't mean man-made global warming... cause that's a load of crap. this is the one where NATURE controls the temperature in conjunction with the SUN...notice Al gore is nowhere in that sentence.

To think that we the people can destroy something as complex as the earth's atmosphere is like thinking you can stink up the country by farting in a hurricane. meteorologists cant' get the next day weather right most of the time and you'll trust them with multiple years predicted down the road? that makes as much sense as CO2 being a pollutant, but then again, who am i to question the religion of Gore.

global warming is really the process of the planet heating up slightly, and weird weather happening as a result of that. but eventually (actually not so far off) the changes in the earth are so drastic that important functions like the gulf stream current will stop, and reverse. this current is super important because it brings warm climate into europe. if it reverses, europe will start to freeze over. a series of chain reactions will actually cause an ice age.

watch An Inconvenient Truth. it has all the answers

How can it end if it never started? The fluxuation in the earth temperatures and "melting polar ice" is normal. People like Al Gore are making millions of dollars (if not billions) propagating this lie.

Man. You people! Of course as the theory goes in 14 billion years the sun will expand and consume the earth, I guess you can call that global warming, and then it will explode and send energy away, I guess that will be global cooling. So have it both ways.

"time is our side ...yes it is" the blip is geologic time like 100,000 years will change everything. so stop you worrying and enjoy one of the most stable environments the earth has yet to see in its history. one thing is always true the mountains will fall without you.

Once all the glaciers melt it will cause the earth to go into an ice age.

of course it will end because global warming is a COMPLETE LIE

WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE OF GLOBAL WARMING!!! It will become very hot in 4 months and we will all cease to exist. According to the global IPCC consensus and Mr. Hansen, this is it! The kaa kaa has hit the fan. I'm going to send you some ice right now.
Michael is back!

No it will vary and we will adapt! just like animals! we are out of control of our world's climate system! Honestly would god give us that much power over the tempreture?

it will get so hot that there will be more rain

after the rain the world will cool a lot
2009-01-24 02:29:02 UTC
Yes. Sooner, or later, the effects of AGW will cause such as disruption of 'normal' modern human life, that the sources of pollution generated by humans, from fossil fuels, will cease. After just a few short centuries, the levels of CO2 will begin to fall.

Whew ! That's a relief, huh?
