Look to government sites to start. Links below. The first one is simple and short. The 2nd is a dialogue. The 3rd is a peer-reviewed paper published in 2007 and provides a great many details for "business as usual" scenarios -- the so-called A2 and A1B scenarios of the IPCC AR4 report. A quote from that last link:

GHG climate forcings in the IPCC BAU scenarios, such

as A1FI, A2 and A1B, are far outside the range that has ex-

isted on Earth in millions of years. The rate of change of

this sustained forcing exceeds that of known forcings in at

least millions of years. Global warming in the BAU sce-

narios, with canonical climate sensitivity ∼3◦C for doubled

CO2, is ∼3◦C by 2100 and still rising rapidly. By 2100 the

melt area on Greenland and West Antarctica and the melt

rate of ice shelves, if any ice shelves remain, would be much

greater than today. Thus it is unlikely that the response time

for significant ice sheet change could exceed centuries, be-

cause such response times (with sea level change of meters

per century) have occurred during the Pleistocene with much

      smaller forcings.

If equilibrium sea level rise is many meters, a response

time of centuries provides little consolation to coastal

dwellers. They would be faced with intermittent floods asso-

ciated with storms and continually rebuilding above a tran-

      sient sea level.

There is are always a continual source of unanswered questions about climate and research continues, as it should. But on the consensus position about AGW, scientists familiar with the subject know there is little room left for doubt.

Even if we completely stopped all inputs into the atmosphere from fossil fuels and certain other unnatural, well-mixed industrial gases such as CFCs, we'd still be in for quite some additional warming. It's already in the pipeline (the system takes time to find equilibrium.)

EDIT: To add to Tessa's comment about Venus... Venus absorbs approximately the same energy per square meter of surface area as does the earth. It is closer to the sun by a factor of 0.7, which means 0.7⁻² or about twice the direct isolation at the _top_ of its atmosphere. But the Bond albedo of Venus is about twice earth's, so it reflects away enough that the net absorption into the atmosphere to become "thermalized" in it is almost the same as that for Earth. In fact, if you were to look at the Planck radiation (attempted to measure the temperature of Venus by looking closely at the wavelengths of light it radiates into space, as all "hot" objects must), you'd see that Venus "appears" colder than the earth by perhaps a dozen degrees Celsius. That's because its atmosphere is so thick -- 70km -- and that by the time you get up that high it is actually much cooler. That's the place where Venus re-radiates its energy back into space and because it is cold, it doesn't radiate so much, leaving much of it retained below. By the time you get to the surface, at an adiabatic rate that isn't too far different from earth's, you find a surface temperature that could melt some metals.

It depends on how far global warming will go. The Earth has three stable climatic states, the warm state, the ice age which we are in now and snowball Earth. If the temperatures rises enough that the stable state we gravitate to is warm state then that's where we'll be going. It would be through various natural feedback mechanisms that greatly overshadow what man can possibly do, mechanisms like the pine beetle not dying off during mild winters and killing the forests where upon the rotting trees release their carbon as CO2 which is what's happening in BC where 80% of the pine trees have been killed by the pine beetle. Or by the melting of the permafrost which contains more than double the CO2 in our atmosphere and untold amounts of methane which is a green house gas that's over 30 times stronger than CO2, note that entire towns have had to be moved due to melting permafrost and methane has been bubbling out of the lakes due to thawing permafrost.

What will happen during the warm period? During the end of the Permian era, it happened because of some volcanic vents ( all of Siberia actually ) releasing CO2, the temperatures rose to about 6 to 8 degrees higher than they are now and the seas stagnated, the warm waters could not hold any oxygen so sea life died, the anaerobic bacteria that didn't need oxygen took over the seas and produce hydrogen sulfide gases which poisoned the air and killed land animals and plants, 90% to 95% of all life on Earth went extinct including the Trilobites and mammals developed the ability to hibernate to wait out the poisonous gases.

If we don't shift to the warm period then we may just see global shortages in food and water while our demographics and land use catches up to the changing climate. We would see mass migrations of climate refugees which we're already seeing.

Of course, speculations about the future invariably focus on worst case scenarios. With some luck, it won't be as bad as it could be and that the problems that do occur may be manageable.

the earth naturally goes tho these changes, its life. remember the ice age? well for the ice to have melted, the earth would have had to heat up and it probly still is. now i do believe however, that ther are way to many carbon emissions being sent into the air and if the uneccessary pollution keeps up it will cause more health problems like asthma and lung cancer and will effect out plants who wont be able to take in all the co2 so they will die, then oxygen isnt being replaced. so we all really need to stop spending money on stupid things like 1000 million election posters and start proving we are trying to make a difference instead of just talking about it.

As one famous Physicist said "Orwellian pronouncements about a catastrophe are dangerous propaganda disguised as science".

There are a couple of things that need to be pointed out, First we are in a short warm period between Ice ages which have dominated the world climate for several Million years. Second, The reason for the the Ice ages at the poles is the position of the continents and the associated ocean currents that cycle cold water from the poles to the equator in cyclic patterns controlling the temperature. Third Solar activity of the sun is the third controlling factor of the climate. During periods of low solar activity the climate cools. During periods of high activity the climate warms. Fourth as much as the CO2 crowd would like to dominate the conversation/science CO2 is a minor player in the climate game making up slightly over 2% of the gasses in our atmosphere. The main controlling factor within the atmosphere is water vapor. The more water vapor you have in the air the generate heat can be transferred. This is where it becomes counter intuitive. The north and south pole are so cold moisture in the air drops out turning them into a desert. If the temperature increases more snow falls. The more snow that falls the bugger the glaciers become the more Ice builds up on the land throwing us back int an Ice age. So what happens if we don't stop global warming? my bet is we will accelerate our way back into an Ice age.

It depends on whether or not we run out of oil before the worst happens. if global warming amounts to nothing by then, we will be very cold. And if we can not convert to new energy sources fast enough, the West will experience total economic collapse. On the other hand, if global warming does prove to be serious, it will lead to rising sea levels which will flood millions of square miles of land, displacing hundreds of millions of people. Global warming can also lead to expanding deserts, leading to mass starvation. But global warming can be stopped. Contrary to denialist claims, energy =/= oil. Zero emission energy sources, such as solar, wind and nuclear power will stop global warming.

Contrary to Alexander's claims, current global warming is not due to the end of the last ice age. Earth started cooling 6,000 years ago. This cooling is an extremely slow process, but we are 6,000 years into the cooling cycle. Global warming will not prevent the next ice age because carbon dioxide is disolved by the ocean.

Google for "King Canute"

He was a vain British King who was told by his sycophantic followers that he was so powerful he could order back the tide. Myth has it that he drowned in the attempt.

Anyone who thinks global warming can be influenced by the tiny microbic nobodies we refer to as humans is just like King Canute.

We must stop trying to reverse it and start putting in measures to cope with it.

There are many different scenarios but neither of them depends only on us. I believe that we can't stop the global warming but we can be more planet-conscious.

http://www.skepticalscience.com/global-warming-positives-negatives.htm has a nice list of the positive and negative (mostly negative) effects of global warming. And the site is a good place to look for information in general.

The change in weather pattens are depend on were live in the world. I live in Australia so my example are going to relating to Australia. In Australia can expect longer time between rain year resulting in longer droughts reduce crop yields and increase stress on wildlife. This also means the extra energy stored in the weather system is released at once. So when in does rain it in lager and worst storms. This can result in flooding in new areas and increase strength of cyclones. Leading to more crop damage, lost of life and infrastructure. Overall an increase in cost.

In poor paths of the world like Africa increase droughts and loss of crop could result in loss of human life. In the case of Europe the change in temperature in sea water could stop the warm sea currents for flowing to the part of world. This cooling of the area, resulting in colder winters, possible in the long term ice age in the area. Increase temperatures changes the allow tropical diseases to spread in to cooler climates.

There is also the possibility of resource wars. This is case were resources like food and water become hard to obtain that countries go to war over areas of land that can provided the resources.

Once we end up in a runaway climate change the earth could end up like Venus. Venus is good an example of a runaway greenhouse effect were the inferred radiation emitted to the plant from the sun is stored in a layer gas on the surface. As the radiation increase so does the temperature releasing more gases in the air which increase the effect.

For your assignment try going to a government website on climate change. There should be an outline of how climate change well effect your country and what kind of action the government is planting on taking.

The earth will go about doing it's normal routine of putting everything in balance. The earth has warmed up before, and then it cools down. It's a cycle. Listen to Maxx. He's got his stuff straight.

Nothing. Because global warming is natural and we can't stop it. Look to history for you answers. It's been warmer in the past than it is now.

Gerbil: Sorry Maxx does not have anything straight. He is of the belief that those videos posted contain actual science. Here is a discussion about one of the videos posted.

It's pure propaganda made to deceive those unwilling to look deeper.

Things that will occur in the future as a result of global warming are increases in extreme weather, precipitation, floods and droughts depending on what area of the world you live in.

If you would like to understand exactly why the planet has warmed over the last several decades allow Dr. Henrik Svensmark to explain in this video:

Some of the Warmists here will say these videos are "propaganda" THEY ARE NOT!! They are the truth and they are authoritative because some of the world's top climate scientists appear and put their reputations on the line with what they say and they say man-made Global Warming is bunk.

The Warmists have NOTHING like these videos --- Oh, they have the Al Gore movie --- but not a single climate scientists appears in that movie, unlike the videos above. And a court in England determined that Gore's movie "An Inconvenient Truth" was basically one long continuous lie from beginning to end.

In order to pass you will have to give some of the commie crap that the warmies are spewing. Apparently your teacher is not aware that GW isn't happening right now and that the UN calls it Climate Change. IPCC. President Obama is even leery of the term Climate Change and is now looking for a name to 'rebrand' Climate Change.

There is no actual justification for GW in the field of true science rather it is a political movement based in propaganda techniques proven effective by Stalin, Hitler and Alinsky.

Quote by John Takeuchi, meteorologist: “Politicians have come to see global warming as a way to raise revenue by rationing CO2 production with schemes such as the ‘cap and trade’ legislation now in Congress. The taxes assessed for producing CO2 could be huge. But global warming as proclaimed by Al Gore and Co., is a hoax.”

Quote by Pal Brekke, solar physicist, senior advisor Norwegian Space Centre: “Anyone who claims that the debate is over and the conclusions are firm has a fundamentally unscientific approach to one of the most momentous issues of our time.”

Quote by Frederick Seitz, Past President, U.S. National Academy of Sciences: The IPCC “is pre-programmed to produce reports to support the hypotheses of anthropogenic warming and the control of greenhouse gases, as envisioned in the Global Climate Treaty....the 1990 IPCC Summary “completely ignored satellite data, since they showed no warming. The 1995 IPCC report was notorious for the significant alterations made to the text after it was approved by the scientists — in order to convey the impression of a human influence. The 2001 IPCC report claimed the twentieth century showed ‘unusual warming’ based on the now-discredited hockey stick graph. The latest IPCC report, published in 2007, completely devaluates the climate contributions from changes in solar activities, which are likely to dominate any human influence.”

The following are quotes from those who are warmies.

Quote by John Holdren, President Obama's science czar: “A massive campaign must be launched to restore a high-quality environment in North America and to de-develop the United States...De-development means bringing our economic system (especially patterns of consumption) into line with the realities of ecology and the global resource situation...Redistribution of wealth both within and among nations is absolutely essential, if a decent life is to be provided for every human being."

NOTE: 'Redistribution of wealth' is just a code phrase for Communism. Besides what does taking money from someone and giving it to someone else have anything to do with solving Global Warming even if it were true?

Quote by EU Environment Commissioner Margot Wallstroem: "[Kyoto protocol] is not a simple environmental issue, where you can say scientists are not unanimous. This is about international relations, this is about the economy, about trying to create a level playing field for big businesses throughout the world. You have to understand what is at stake, and that is why it is serious,..."

Quote by Ottmar Edenhoffer, high level UN-IPCC official: "We redistribute de facto the world's wealth by climate policy...Basically it's a big mistake to discuss climate policy separately from the major themes of globalization...One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore."

Quote from Monika Kopacz, atmospheric scientist: "It is no secret that a lot of climate-change research is subject to opinion, that climate models sometimes disagree even on the signs of the future changes (e.g. drier vs. wetter future climate). The problem is, only sensational exaggeration makes the kind of story that will get politicians’ — and readers’ — attention. So, yes, climate scientists might exaggerate, but in today’s world, this is the only way to assure any political action and thus more federal financing to reduce the scientific uncertainty."

Joseph Goebbel,

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

So if you want to throw in with the admitted liars, conspirators of the falsified hockey stick, and those who alter reports and data as, Seitz states above, you will probably get an 'A'. If you report the truth you will flunk or, as Goebbel states above, become an enemy of the state.

And no human or entire humanity can stop, change or slow anything that happening with entire planet (globe), whatever it is.

The temperature MIGHT go up about 1 degree in 100 years. It most likely won't change anything. We MIGHT have better crop production.
